NCSLA 2012 Election – President Elect Bios

President-elect Bios (alphabetical order)

Jeanne Hoover

Jeanne Hoover is the Science Reference Librarian at East Carolina University. At East Carolina, Jeanne serves as the liaison librarian to the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Nutrition Science, and the College of Health and Human Performance. Originally from Pennsylvania, Jeanne has a M.L.I.S. from the University of Pittsburgh and B.A. from the Pennsylvania State University. Initially, Jeanne’s involvement in SLA began during library school when she served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Special Libraries Association Pittsburgh Student Group and participated in the larger SLA Pittsburgh Chapter. Currently, she serves as the Communications Leader for NCSLA. Jeanne is interested in advancing professional development opportunities for NCSLA members, especially for members who are unable to attend events due to distance and/or travel funds.

Tiffany Lopez

Tiffany López is the reference librarian at Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, LLP, the Triangle’s largest business and litigation law firm. Prior to taking on this role, Tiffany was the Assistant Library Network Coordinator for the Environmental Protection Agency, a position that she describes as being a “librarian to the librarians” at the agency. Tiffany served as the NCCU student chapter president during library school; upon graduation, she was elected to the three-year director position on the NCSLA board. In this capacity, Tiffany has assisted with event planning and hosting, she began the formal process of polling members for programming feedback and ideas, and she has worked on a complete overhaul of the North Carolina Chapter Practices. Tiffany was the recipient of NCSLA’s 2011 Horizon Award, and looks forward to furthering her leadership experience within the chapter. She hopes to strengthen communication within the chapter, capitalize on collaborative programming opportunities, and enhance the overall member experience.
