Are you in need of practical help navigating your job search? Do you need moral support and are willing to share your experiences with others who are in similar situations? Then the NCSLA Job Hunters’ Discussion Group is for you.
This new group will be open to SLA members who are seasoned librarians actively looking for work. Space is limited so please R.S.V.P. to Jackie Kilberg, Discussion Leader at kilberg@earthlink.net as soon as possible.
Meetings will be held monthly and continue for six months after which members can choose to stay or leave to allow new members to join. Members’ names and what is discussed in the group will be kept confidential.
Topics of discussion will include: preparing for an interview, searching for jobs that do not have the word “librarian” in the title, resume and cover letter tips. The discussions will be informal, usually beginning by going around the table so those present can report on their own activities and news since the last meeting. Time will be allotted at the end of each meeting to choose the topic for the next meeting.
Meetings will be held on the last Monday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Western Campus Library of Wake Tech Community College located at 3434 Kildaire Farm Road in Cary. I am looking forward to meeting our new discussion group members.
