What is web 3.0 and the semantic web? What are web 2.0 technologies, and why are they important? How has the World Wide Web changed since the early days of web 1.0? Jason invites attendees to ask these and other questions as important issues defining the World Wide Web and its future shape take center stage.

Jason Bengtson is the Emerging Technologies Librarian at the University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center. He has published several papers on technology topics in journals such as the Journal of Hospital Librarianship and Medical Reference Services Quarterly. Last year Jason presented his paper on Digital Palimpsest recovery to the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association and this year he presented two sections at the Technology in Libraries Conference, including a paper on applying principles of emergence to metadata. He presented ”Evolution of the Web: from Static to Semantic in 3 Big Steps” as a SLA Rio Grande Chapter webinar in February 2012.
